What Is Faith?
And how can I continue to live my life with it? The Bible says:
“Faith is the Substance of things hoped for;
the evidence for things not seen.”
~ Hebrews 11:1 ~
Are you hoping for anything in your life? Is there something you believe could be possible for you that everything in waking life seems to negate?
I do. I have many things I hope for:
- An equally yolked relationship,
- A sturdy and consistent growth in myself & ETIW,
- An unshakable peace throughout every season of my life.
But the only thing I have right now is an inner knowing.
I have a knowing that I deserve good things in my life. I know my Creator sees the desires of my heart and He wants to give them to me. But I also know it must be on His timing, not mine.
As I delight in God’s truth and presence He promises He will give me the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4). I will continue to seek His Kingdom first and foremost because at the end of the day, What does a new car, house, or partner mean
if I am lost and empty in my soul? (Mathew 16:26)
This is why God encourages us to not lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3: 5-6). Instead, delight in His unconditional love, and trust in His ability to keep every promise.
Despite this inner knowing, these seasons of waiting can sometimes feel like standing in a void.
So I asked God:
How can I spend my time in the void wisely?
And He told me to…
Stop spending time on things that once seemed to help me cope, because are now only harming and stunting my growth.
